Mobile Library

​Mobile Library is a unique initiative that brings together a growing collection of photo-books—a mix of our personal collection and generous contributions from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers. We are thrilled to host this collection in our office space, where we aim to create a public, open-access library that will be a haven for visual storytelling enthusiasts and anyone interested in exploring photography as a medium of creative expression.
 

Through this library, our goal is to foster a culture of debate, discussions, and engagement around the visual medium, especially within the context of the Sikkim-Darjeeling Himalayas. It is not just about flipping through the pages of beautiful books; it’s about cultivating a deeper understanding of how photography and photo-books serve as vehicles to communicate our stories, histories, and identities. We want to create a safe space for everyone to feel connected to these stories, to reflect on them, and to express their own.

At TCC, we see photographs as more than just visual objects; they are deeply sensory experiences. Photographs carry emotions, memories, and histories. The Project Mobile Library is grounded in the belief that photography is a tool for building connections, not just across time and space, but within the local community itself. Through the books in our library, we hope to engage with the local and global community on a deeper level, sparking conversations about:

• The artistic process of photography.

• The role of visual storytelling in shaping our collective memory.

• The intersection of culture, history, and identity through images.

We also hope to bring back the nostalgic charm of the library as a space a warm, inviting place filled with the smell of old books, the sound of rustling pages, and perhaps, the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. In a time dominated by digital screens, we urge visitors to take a break from their phones and laptops, to pause and spend time with the physical photo books that hold immense stories within their pages.
 

Mobile Library is not just about housing books; it is about creating a community-driven space that nurtures collaborations and collective growth. We aim to foster community-building where people from all walks of life can engage with each other's stories and histories. By welcoming contributions from local and international photographers, artists, and storytellers, we envision this library becoming an integral part of Sikkim-Darjeeling’s creative ecosystem.
