The TCC Photo Archive continues to grow each day as we work towards our mission of preserving and re-telling the stories of the Darjeeling–Sikkim Himalayas.

Our vision is to build a thriving archive that reflects the rich, diverse, inclusive, and layered histories of the region. Over the past few years, the Collective has steadily expanded to include valuable personal and institutional collections — from family photo albums and oral histories to institutional repositories and rare visual records.

As the archive grows, so does the responsibility of preserving these invaluable materials.

The Confluence Collective is a voluntary organisation driven by a shared belief that preserving our stories, memories, and histories matters. However, sustaining this work comes with real challenges. We are a small team committed to scanning, digitising, cataloguing, and preserving thousands of photographs and documents while simultaneously creating public engagement initiatives around the archive.

To continue this work and expand our impact, we urgently need financial support.

Our Vision

We aim to make these archives publicly accessible and community-driven by:

• Creating exhibitions and public events

• Organising talks, workshops, and community dialogues

• Encouraging collaborative research and storytelling

• Promoting artistic, literary, and historical engagement

• Building safe and inclusive spaces for collective reflection

Our long-term vision is to foster a culture where history, art, writing, and research come together to strengthen community identity and cultural memory across the Darjeeling–Sikkim Himalayas.

How Your Donation Will Help

We are currently aiming to raise ₹15,00,000 to sustain and expand our initiatives for the coming year.

Essential Equipment — ₹6,00,000

Your contribution will help us purchase critical tools required for archival preservation and public programming, including:

• Computers and storage systems

• Hard drives and backup devices

• Scanners and digitisation tools

• Projectors and presentation equipment

These resources are essential for preserving fragile archival materials and making them accessible to future generations.

Supporting Our Volunteers — ₹3,00,000

The Collective relies heavily on the dedication of passionate volunteers.

Your support will allow us to provide modest monthly stipends to three core volunteers who contribute their time, skills, and labour towards maintaining and expanding the archive.

Public Engagement Programmes — ₹4,00,000

We believe archives should live within communities, not behind closed doors.

Your donations will help fund:

• Exhibitions & Publications like Zines etc 

• Public talks and discussions

• Community workshops with school students and communities 

• Mobile archive initiatives

• Cultural stalls and outreach events

These programmes help create meaningful dialogue and encourage public participation in preserving regional histories.

Your support will enable us to continue documenting, preserving, cataloguing, and expanding the archive so that important stories from the region are not lost with time.
