Help support a Photo and Archive Exhibition celebrating 125 Years of Dr. Graham’s Homes School

Presented by The Confluence Collective in association with Old Girls and Boys, alumni of Dr. Grahm’s Homes School.

In 2021, The Confluence Collective (TCC) began digitising archival photographs and school magazines from Dr. Graham’s Homes (DGH)—a Scottish missionary school established in 1900 by Reverend Dr. John Anderson Graham in Kalimpong, India. This marked the beginning of a deeper engagement with the school’s visual history and its role in the history and culture of Kalimpong.

Originally founded to support orphaned and abandoned Anglo-Indian children, DGH has grown over the decades into a home and institution for students from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Its story is closely intertwined with the evolution of Kalimpong itself.

To commemorate 125 years of the school, TCC- in collaboration with some Old Girls and Boys (OGBs)is organising a public exhibition that brings together rare archival materials and contemporary photographs. These images offer a rare and intimate look into the school’s history, legacy, culture and continued relevance today.

We invite all OGBs and Kalimpong history enthusiasts to support this important effort.

Your contributions will help fund:

Printing and framing of archival and contemporary photographs

Design and production of exhibition materials

Logistics expenses, honorariums for local artists, researchers, and collaborators

This is more than an exhibition; it is a chance to preserve and celebrate a shared history. It is a way of honouring the legacy of this iconic school and the community that has grown around it for over a century.

Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to making this project a reality.

Join us in bringing this archive alive and to bring the past into view for the community, for future generations, and for the history and culture of Kalimpong.

We are also inviting OGBs and residents from Kalimpong to contribute to the exhibition with photographs and experiences that you would like to share and include in the exhibition. Please email mail@theconfluencecollective.com.
